May 23, 2009: After waiting in the rain for the refuge to open, Cheryl, Denise, Nancy B., Joyce, and Nancy C. with Zach and Brandon started the weeding and planting at Boyden.  G Lopes donated two truckloads of mulch so that we won't have to pull weeds every other week. 

May 17, 2009: Our ice cream social fundraiser and raffle was a great success!
May 4, 2009: Mayor Charles Crowley presented "Hollywood Comes to Taunton" and Alyssa, Nancy M.'s daughter was presented with the Ricky Gomes Scholarship at our meeting.

April 28, 2009:

Audrey, Nancy C., Joyce, Nancy B., Thelma, and Denise again visited the Prison Book Program in Quincy to select books for prisoners and package books for mailing.
 



April 15, 2009: Nancy B. and Nancy C. delivered baked goodies to the Taunton, Raynham, Dighton, Berkley, and Rehoboth Public Libraries in appreciation during National Library Week
April 6, 2009:  Stephen Keohane, the Director of Development for Homes For Our Troops, gave a presentation about their organization and Kelly Campbell was installed as a new member.

April 2, 2009

Our club delivered 42 Blue Bears with their kerchiefs and stuffing to Club Institute for Mass Star.  Denise,
Darlene, Sharon J., and Joyce did all of the sewing.

March 24, 2009: Darlene, Joyce and Nancy C. brought bags of dictionaries and  thesaurus donated by our club to Quincy for the Prison Book Program.  They filled orders and packed the books for mailing to prisoners around the country.



March 15, 2009: Nancy C. attended the GFWC of Massachusetts Artists Tea in Sudbury.  Donna Shibley, our Junior Director is helping her hold up some of the artwork submitted by our club to the art and photography contests.

March 9, 2009: Norma Pimenta, author of Smiling Eyes, a Cheerleading Coaches Personal Victory, spoke to us about the experiences that led to her writing the book and how she wrote and published her book.
February 8, 2009: Our "Hearts o' Fire" tea and raffle fundraiser for student scholarships was a great success.

February 7, 2009: Joyce and Nancy C. participated in the report writing workshop in Sudbury.

February 2, 2009: Members made Hershey Kiss bags for the local nursing homes.

January 24, 2009: Seven members attended the GFWC of Massachusetts Combined Mid-winter Conference at Sturbridge Village where three members received their 25-year certificates, we wrote letters for "Incredible Kid Day," ate a deliceous lunch and much more.


January 5, 2009: At our regular meeting Cindy was installed as president, Jane was installed as a new member, Ryan Carney from Boston's Better Business Bureau spoke to us about scams and fraud, and the Russian orphan, Sergey, visited us with his host family.


December 2008: Our club donated the money to light a tree on the Taunton Green for the holidays!

December 15, 2008: During our Holiday Party at Pub 76, next year's officers were installed, two new members (one by proxy) were installed, and perfect attendance awards were presented.  Fun was had by all--congratulations to Cheryl and Sharon W. for a job well done.

November 3, 2008: At our meeting Jenny Starvish,
 RN and Breast Health Nurse Navigator from Morton Hospital and Medical Center, brought a fake breast with lumps for us to see how a proper breast exam should be performed.

November 2, 2008: At the Dighton Arts Festival, Nancy Brown dressed as Sacajawea and helped children make talking sticks while other members helped the kids make puzzle frames.  The crew relaxed at the wine tasting booth afterwards.

November 1, 2008:  GFWC of MA Fall Meeting - Joyce Clark and Nancy Clark attended.


September 25, 2008: Our spaghetti supper and raffle fundraiser was a great success!

October 25, 2008: Juniors Fall Conference at the Marlboro Boys and Girl's Club
October 17-19, 2008: Joyce Clark and Nancy Clark attended the GFWC New England Regional Conference in Burlington, VT.  Nancy even won the MA raffle basket.

October 6, 2008: Diane Kozak, the author of Full Circle 911, spoke to us about her book, her secrets for success, and the lessons found in the book

October 4, 2008: At Boyden's Arts and Air Festival members baked cookies to benefit the animal preserve, Nancy B. read Dr. Seuss to children there, and Joyce and Nancy C. manned the membership table where Mayor Crowley joined them.

August 26, 2008: Nancy C., Nancy B., Mia, and Denise shovel wood chips for Boyden's Fragrance Garden and put up a bird house that Mia painted

August 23, 2008: Denise, Zach, Joyce C., and Nancy C. attended President's Day in Sudbury and had their picture taken with our director, Donna Shibley.

June, 2008: Joan Curran and Joyce Clark are presenting the podium to Roberta Guez, the chief Operating Officer ofTaunton State Hospital. The podium was made at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School and donated by our club.

June 6, 2008:  We joined with the Taunton After School Program's Scrabble themed team in this year's Relay for Life.
